Meet The Hosts - Brandon S. Hire & Neil McDougall!

Host Brandon S. Hire At Red Rocks Outside Of Denver Colorado

My name is Brandon S. Hire, and I'm one your hosts. Pleased to meet you. I'm more than just the host of this podcast, I've also been a solo artist, frontman for Day Nine, and a freelance producer and studio engineer. Here's a little bit about why I decided to add podcaster to my resume.

I had previously published a podcast called "Music Industry Tips". Each episode included 3 segments, and each segment outlined a promotional tip for independant artists. I was new to podcasting (but lets face it, so was everyone else at that time). I eventually ran out of ideas and stopped producing episodes, although the previous ones are still up on the web (check it out on iTunes).

In early 2007, I began listening to a podcast called "Home Recording Odyssey". This podcast was for beginners, and run by a man in Australia named Andrew Brierly. In the show, Andrew would teach his audience what he was learning at that time, as he considered himself to be a beginner as well. This sparked my interest in other recording-themed podcasts, and I began listening to them religiously. Home Recording Odyssey allowed their listeners to submit segments to the show, and I included a segment in episode 34 about amp modeling.

I noticed one thing lacking in the podcasts I would listen to about recording. None of them were focusing on heavy music. A fan of heavy music myself, and knowing a thing or two about recording it, I began contemplating starting my own podcast focused on recording rock and metal. After much soul searching and debate, I decided to give it a go. And so, The Metal Shop Podcast was born!

For more information on my other musical aspirations, please check out the following myspace profiles.
